INDONEWSIAN.COM — The construction of Permanent Housing (Huntap) for victims of hydrometeorological disasters in North Sumatra (Sumut) has officially started. Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Surya hopes that the Huntap construction will be completed on time.

In the initial stage, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) will build 200 houses in Sibolga, 118 in Tapanuli Tengah, 103 in Tapanuli Utara, and 227 in Tapsel. In Sibolga, the location is in the GOR Sibolga Sports Area, for Tapteng the Pinangsori Hajj Camp area, for Taput in Sibalanga Village, and for Tapsel in Kebuh Hapesong PTPN IV. The target is to complete the housing for victims of the flood and landslide disasters in North Sumatra by early 2026.

“Hope this shelter is completed on time so that our affected residents can move in immediately, so they no longer have to stay in the refugee camps,” said Surya, while accompanying Minister of Public Housing Maruarar Sirait and Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian for the groundbreaking ceremony of the shelter at the Pinangsori Hajj Camp site in Tapteng, Sunday (21/12).

He asked the community to be patient and also participate in accelerating the construction of the temporary housing for flood and landslide victims. Likewise, support from all parties, including the TNI, Polri, BNPB, and other elements of the community.

“Pemprov Sumut is very grateful to the Ministry of PKP, the Minister of Home Affairs, TNI, Polri, private sector, NGOs, and the community who have worked together to rehabilitate the settlements affected by the disaster. Therefore, I hope the victims are patient, because the President continues to monitor the progress of the disaster recovery in North Sumatra,” said Surya.

Minister of PUPR Maruarar Sirait said the country has deployed all its forces to restore the conditions in North Sumatra and other affected provinces. He hopes all parties can work together and more quickly.

“Country is present, the President mobilizes all forces, coordination and finances; we are united in helping our people, let’s work quickly, faster than usual,” said the minister, who is commonly called Ara.
