To create, construct, and manage a hybrid renewable energy facility featuring a solar farm, a battery energy storage system (BESS), and an undersea cable in Riau Province, Indonesia.
The initiative will provide Clean Firm Power to power-hungry customers in Singapore as well as to industrial areas close to the solar facility located in Riau Province, Indonesia.
Helle Kristoffersen, President for Asia and an Executive Committee member at TotalEnergies, stated that “this initiative will aid Singapore in achieving its target of net-zero emissions by 2050, while also promoting economic growth in Riau Province, Indonesia.”
Regarding the submarine interconnector, both sides will collaborate on exploring the planning, development, funding, building, operating, and maintaining of an underwater connection along with related infrastructure aimed at importing low-carbon power from Indonesia to Singapore.
“The interconnector initiative will be essential in facilitating the import of clean energy into Singapore and will lead to beneficial results for both Indonesia and Singapore,” stated SGEI CEO Ong Teng Koon.
